Creating the perfect space to exercise at home
Mr and Mrs Windle first discovered Yorkshire Garden Studios after seeing one of our adverts on Google. They were looking for a high-quality garden building that would provide plenty of room for exercise equipment while complementing their home and garden.
After getting in touch with our team, they began working with Garden Studio Specialist Tom to bring their ideas to life. Tom took the time to understand how they planned to use the space and helped them explore the different sizes, materials and finishing options available.
Together, they designed a spacious 5m x 4m garden studio, providing the ideal proportions for a comfortable and practical home gym.
A contemporary design with natural character
For the exterior, Mr and Mrs Windle selected beautiful Thermo Redwood cladding. The natural warmth and character of the timber help the studio sit attractively within its garden surroundings, while giving the building a premium, contemporary finish.
The timber cladding is complemented by large anthracite sliding patio doors and a matching anthracite window. These darker details create a striking contrast against the redwood exterior and complete the studio’s clean, modern appearance.
The generous glazing also allows natural light into the room, helping the home gym feel bright, open and welcoming throughout the day.
A dedicated home gym in the garden
Now complete, the new garden studio is being used as Mr and Mrs Windle’s home gym. The 20-square-metre interior provides a dedicated space for their fitness equipment and workouts, without taking up valuable room inside the house.
Having a purpose-built gym in the garden means they can exercise in the privacy and comfort of their own home, with no commute and no need to rearrange a spare bedroom or other living space.
The finished studio combines practical everyday use with a stylish exterior, giving Mr and Mrs Windle a space that supports their fitness goals while also enhancing their garden.
From discovering Yorkshire Garden Studios through Google to developing the final design with Tom, the project shows how a carefully planned garden studio can transform an underused area of the garden into a valuable new room for the home.
